Taking A Squat

New at Reason: Why should you be worried about the fate of unsavory "typosquatter" John Zuccarini? Guest columnist A.B. Berens explains.

Amazon.com looks like it's in trouble. I don't see anything about the river at all there. Perhaps I should sue to seize the domain so I can publish my 4th grade report.

Don't even get me started on "ebay." Nothing on the site even tells me what an "ebay" is.

Talk about a true test of your libertarian bona fides. That guy is infuriating.

I don't want to arrest him, but I will confess to being tempted to coercively stick my shoe in his arse.

You're just jealous because he thought of it and you didn't.

I think as an act of protest he should re-link all of his pop-ups to the D.O.J. home page and melt down their hit meter.

Truth in Domain Names? What the hell...

How about Truth in Bill Names. Instead of running around trying to "save the children" on the internet, our politicians should start naming all the bills passing through congress something meaningful and pertinent to what is contained in the bill.

Oh wait, that'd mean we'd end up with 5000 character titles for most bills, since they carry so many piggy-back pieces of shit that to name them all would take 5 or 6 sheets of paper alone.

StMack:

And risk being labeled a terrorist or enemy-combatant or whatever else DoS'ing a gov't server will get him? No doubt they would claim damages in the billions as well as threats to national security.

Stmack|9.27.03 @ 8:23AM|

Sick,

good point. Maybe he should just spread them over of few dozen .gov sites. Surely they would not find that content objectionable.

Forget the kiddie stuff; I think this guy SHOULD be locked up (or stoned - sharia, where are you when we need you). He's the equivalent of a guy shoving you from an 8th ave. sidewalk into a shlock-shop/porno palace/name-your-horror and blocking you from leaving. Or, having a nice looking store named "Edie Bauer." You go in to find a flannel shirt and you're accosted by vile salesmen hawking Lladro's, Franklin Mint Plates, and Precious Moments and having the door locked behind you. At least in these scenarios you have the opportunity to smash the bastard in the face. In this case, let the gov't do it for us.
