Police officers in the city will join those in Anaheim and at Cal State Fullerton in being required to wear cameras that record video and audio of interactions with the public.

The Fullerton City Council late Tuesday night unanimously approved the $650,354 purchase of 140 wearable cameras from Taser International. The price includes upgrades, support services and software for five years.

Fullerton's officers could be wearing the devices by November, Chief Dan Hughes said. That would be the same month Anaheim and CSUF officers might begin attaching them to the front of their uniforms as well. Other Orange County law-enforcement agencies are testing such cameras.
