Six Fla. Gay Couples Files Suit Against Marriage Ban

Argue it's unconstitutional

|

Six same-sex couples and Equality Florida Institute are filing a lawsuit against the state, contending Florida laws prohibiting the marriage of same sex couples violates the United States Constitution.

The couples are from Miami and nearby areas, according to a written statement. The lawsuit is in state court in Miami.

Their complaint contends Florida laws deny them the legal protections and "equal dignity" provided by having the freedom to marry.
