Cory Booker Wins Special Democratic Senate Primary in New Jersey

Hoping to take seat left vacant after Sen. Frank Lautenberg died

TRENTON, N.J., Aug. 13 (UPI) — Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker won Tuesday's Democratic primary and is the favorite to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Frank Lautenberg, results showed.

With about 50 percent of precincts reporting, Booker had 60 percent of the vote, trailed by Rep. Frank Pallone at 22 percent, Rep. Rush Holt at 13 percent and state Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver at less than 5 percent, The Washington Post reported.
