DEDHAM, Mass., April 2 (UPI) — A convicted rapist who lived quietly in Maine for 34 years has been returned to Massachusetts to face what could be a life sentence.

Gary Alan Irving, 52, waived extradition during a hearing Monday in Cumberland County in Maine, the Portland (Maine) Press Herald reported. Later that day, a judge in Norfolk County in Massachusetts ordered him held without bail pending his long-delayed sentencing.
