Chris Christie Confirms He Opposes Gay Conversion Therapy
Bill to ban the practice working its way through the legislature
Under pressure from Democrats, Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday said he opposes the controversial use of "gay conversion therapy," but he did not stake a position on a bill that would ban the practice.
The Republican governor's announcement came one day after he said he didn't know enough about the issue to comment — and hours after Democratic challenger Barbara Buono slammed his indecision as "disgusting" and the Democratic Governors Association, calling Christie "extremist," used it as a way to raise money.
