THE First Minister says Holyrood must make a 'significant response' to Leveson's recommendations for press regulation, and not leave it to Westminster.
HOLYROOD must meet its legislative responsibility and find a "Scottish solution" to the Leveson report's recommendations for the regulation of the press, the First Minister has said.
Lord Justice Leveson's findings, published last week, call for legislation to underpin a "genuinely independent and effective system of self-regulation" for the press.
It follows months of evidence gathering in which he found that the press ignored its own code of conduct in a way that "wreaked havoc with the lives of innocent people" on far too many occasions over the last decade.
