Chinese Trade War Escalates

U.S. introduce tariffs on Chinese-made solar panels

WASHINGTON—Tariffs on imported Chinese-made solar panels will soon take effect after a decision by a U.S. trade panel Wednesday, escalating a trade war that until now had been based on preliminary taxes on imports.

The U.S. International Trade Commission found, in a 6-0 vote, that U.S. solar-panel makers had been injured by illegal dumping from Chinese competitors, clearing the way for the Commerce Department to impose tariffs.
