Prosecutors Believe College Police Had File on Aurora Shooter

Will be given access to records about James Holmes

Prosecutors in the case against accused Aurora movie theater killer James Holmes believe the University of Colorado police department opened a file on Holmes prior to the July 20 shootings.

The revelation comes in a newly released ruling by Judge William Sylvester, ordering that prosecutors be allowed access to numerous documents from Holmes' time in a neuroscience program at CU.

In deciding whether to release any police records or police intelligence files that the university had on Holmes, Sylvester wrote, "The People acknowledge that they 'probably have campus police records, but [they] don't know that for sure.' "
