Independent Scotland Would Have To Apply for EU Membership
SNP ministers have been left reeling after European leaders gave their strongest indication yet a separate Scotland would be forced to reapply for membership of the EU.
Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission (EC), said that any new nation state will have to apply for membership under international law.
