National School Choice Week Lights Up Chicago

"National School Choice Week is honored to host this event," says National School Choice Week President Andrew Campanella, "all of us are are rooting for you and we know you'll be huge successes."

ReasonTV followed National School Choice Week's whistle-stop train tour to Chicago's Union Station event, which featured a hip-hop dance crew and school choice advocates from the local community.

National School Choice Week is an annual event designed to draw attention to - and advocate for - educational options for K-12 students. During the week, over 200 groups are hosting thousands of events across the country, exploring everything from charter schools and voucher programs to online curricula.

Produced by Paul Detrick and Tracy Oppenheimer.

    Mr. Pedantic says:
"Union" stations were not about labor unions.
Any sizable town had several rail-feeds when that was the primary method of long distance travel and no one had any desire for a B&O station here, a Pennsy station there, etc.
If everybody already knew this, I apologize. I didn't.

More Oppenheimer please. I totally have a not-quite-celebrity crush. Not just because she's a babe, but the way she enunciates/articulates her speech is hot too... I dunno why, exactly. lol

Compared to the women shown before her, she a freakin' goddess. And yes, she's attractive in form, attitude and manner.

Haha. I mean... Honestly, if you considered how much time I invest into scraping off current events and politically themed commentary, I MUST be flirting with the boundary for stalking... And Reason is usually my first specific read each day, after general Google News skimming.

But anyway, whenever she gets voice/cam time, she always comes across well.

Hey, as long as you like her on-air personality, her looks, and the quality journalism she produces, great for you!

Just don't take photos of her through her bathroom window. :-)

"Won't somebody please think of the teachers unions?"

Only every vote-buying twit in the US; that's all! See:
"While other states use the land trust proceeds for libraries, technology, schools and other programs, California deposits all revenue into the teacher pension fund, as directed by the Legislature in the mid-1980s.
Why support the pension fund rather than schools directly?
"My guess is political muscle," Porter said, noting the pension fund needed financial help from the state. "You've got to get the money from somewhere."

This is a neoliberal scheme to make some people money, not educate children. Be afraid.

And that's different from the current system in what way?
