Baylen Linnekin on California's Unconstitutional Foie Gras Ban

|

Earlier this week the animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Hot's Kitchen, a popular Hermosa Beach restaurant, for violating California's consumer protection laws by continuing to sell foie gras after the state's ban on the sale of the product took effect in July. Baylen Linnekin of Keep Food Legal reports that while Hot's is simply offering a complementary side of foie gras with one of its burgers, PETA sees this an attempt to skirt the state ban. The reality, Linnekin explains, is that the foie gras law is both unenforceable and unconstitutional.
