Set Tivos to Stun! C-SPAN's Brian Lamb Interviews Nick Gillespie on Sunday, July 10!

On Sunday, July 10, C-SPAN will run an interview of me by the great Brian Lamb about my new book with Matt Welch, The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What's Wrong With America; the ins and outs of; my abiding dislike for politics and most politicians; and why I think my kids will inherit a better world than the one I did. And just to show that Lamb is the cagiest interrogator this side of Lynndie England, he even includes a clip reel highlighting my dazzlingly varied wardrobe over the years. It's a wide-ranging, fun, and probing interview, so please tune in.

The interview is part of the Q&A series and it airs at 8pm ET and will be rebroadcast at 11pm ET on Sunday, July 10 (an earlier post had the time wrong). For details or to watch online, go here now.

Last July In July 2009 [d'oh! time is a jet plane, it moves too fast...], C-SPAN asked me to talk about my summer reading schedule, which included Peter Bagge's Everybody's Stupid Except for Me, RU Sirius' Everybody Must Get Stoned, Joe Scarborough's The Last Best Hope, Ayn Rand bios from Anne Heller and Jennifer Burns, and Ha Jin's great novel War Trash. Full disclosure: I did not get to Balzac's The Black Sheep, though I did finish the Steig Larsson trilogy [last summer] (my comments on its verisimilitude here). Here's that clip:

    Now we have a contest!

    Posts about Michelle Bachmann, dude. They win. HERC and the Gillespe/Welch shilling can't even compete.

  • Franklin Harris||

    One quote from that Human Events Q&A needs repeating:

    GILLESPIE: Having lived in LA and D.C., I'd have to say that differences are few and far between and constantly exaggerated. The two cities have nothing in common, other than they are packed with conniving bastards who are convinced of their own genius and want to finance everything with other people's money.

    Also, if anyone has $30 million, I have a spec script....

    The book was fun. I liked the reprinting of his sexual fantasy letters to Penthouse.
    His fiction was outstanding, even then

    98% of Democrats think Brian Lamb is a Democrat.

    98% of Republicans think Brian Lamb is a Republican.

  • Achtung Coma Baby||

    According to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, Brian Lamb political affiliation can never be determined with 100% accuracy.

    That, and a cushy position in the Nazi atomic bomb program.

    Ya, brothers

  • The Pope||

    I was a guard at the Nazi bomb program.

  • ||

    Does that mean he can be a Democrat and a Republican at the same time?

  • Mr Whipple||

    Can I be a male and a lesbian at the same time?

  • Andy Dick||

    Seems to me you can

  • ||

    Can I be a male and a lesbian at the same time?

    Rather says male societies have no I can see no reason why not.

    Is it OK if I use my VCR?

  • Aqua Buddha||

    Only if you're Amish.

  • ||

    Does Amish-friendly count?

  • Mr Whipple||

    You know how to program a VCR? Shit. Mine ended up going through the window.
