Is this some kind of koan?

  • The Gobbler| |

There a hell of a lot more free than the citizens of New York City.

  • The Gobbler| |

My God! We've found Libertopia, and it's a fucking prison in Bolivia! Somebody tell Greenspan. He wasn't wrong after all. Markets do work, just not here.

  • | |

I know! For real, huh? And all these attacks agains the president are unprecedented!

  • Jeff P| |

Ah, finally, the free and open exchange of ideas, capital, and ass-rape...

  • Brett L| |

I'm disappointed it doesn't feature Snake Plishkin.

  • | |

    I heard he was dead.

  • Rich| |

Remember, once you're inside you're on your own.
Oh, you mean I can't count on you?
    No.
    Good!

Why did it have to be Bolivia? They couldn't have done this in a state that's not landlocked?

  • Warty| |

That's not really Bolivia's fault. Blame Chile for that.

  • Indiana Jones| |

Why did it have to be Snake?

The world's least administrated prison, perhaps. But a prison nonetheless.

I'll take what I can get, SF.

  • STEVE SMITH| |

DID THEY PRIVATIZE THE RAPE? IF SO, STEVE SMITH APPLY AS INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR!

  • Kathleen Sebelius| |

If you haven't felt the pinch yet, you will soon.

The Radford article would be appropriate here. One of the best monetary articles I have ever read.

And, as an aside, earlier this year I had the opportunity to speak with Steve Moore the economist and I mentioned Radford...he had never heard of it...THIS is the best "free market" economist on TV? Seriosuly? I mean I like a lot of what he says but a big dumb idiot such as myself should in no way shape or form have any edge on any econ discussion with him, and yet there we were. He said "sounds interesting, send it to me." HA!...

You have to go to prison to be free?

  • bski| |

    Bolivia is a harsh mistress.

  • Ragin Cajun| |

I heard Mike Tyson is Bolivian now.

    Paradox of the Day?

That was in the Spring 2010 issue of the Independent Review. I thought I was behind in my reading - I guess not so much.

  • Jesse Walker| |

That was in the Spring 2010 issue of the Independent Review.

...and it didn't go online until this month.

    One word - subscribe.

  • cynical| |

    Wow, it's a little land-locked Cuba.

  • Robert| |

This may say something about the conditions likeliest to produce a very free society. As bski hinted, maybe Heinlein was right, intentionally or not. Maybe authorities -- i.e. voters -- are most likely to allow a free society when they have a lid on it.

    Why Jesse?

Why give Max the opportunity to post about Libertopia?
