Hip-Hop Gold Bugs Against the Fed

From a blog titled "Where Hip-Hop and Libertarianism Meet," a rapper's case against the Federal Reserve:

(This shouldn't be taken as an endorsement of either the message or the music. Rather, it should be taken as a sign of my general inability to resist any novelty rapper who manages to semi-cogently reference Andrew Jackson, Keynes' animal spirits, the discount window, and currency elasticity.)

Fist of Etiquette|10.11.09 @ 2:31PM|

No gang colors, Suderman!

24AheadDotCom|10.11.09 @ 2:36PM|

This is a pro-RonPaul video, a bit ironic considering this site's role in helping reduce his chances of playing a needling role in the last election. And, of course, it's just the latest in another long line of cheap stunts that his supporters pull to mask the fact that they don't have the mental capacity to engage their opponents in debate.

Meanwhile, Reason would cheer this Federal Reserve propaganda and the Fed's attempts to profit from money that was earned illegally. Reason doesn't really oppose the Fed or want to try to take some of their power away, they're just rappin' paper tigers.

P.S. In case anyone replies to this, their responses will almost assuredly be ad homs, thereby conceding my points and showing the childish, anti-intellectual nature of libertarians. Dozens of comments here have shown that the phrase "fascist libertarian" isn't an oxymoron.

That Guy|10.11.09 @ 2:54PM|

Isn't your assumption that libertarians have an "childish, anti-intellectual" nature a concession of your own inability to engage those who disagree with you in honest debate.

Putting aside the obvious point that the statement is of the very sort you assume will come in response to your own, do you have any evidence for such a claim? Have there been double-blind studies with easily repeatable methods showing libertarians to be childish and anti-intellectual?

If not, how can you expect to have your own perspective taken seriously when the attacks you use aren't based on any empirical data but rather on (probably seriously biased) anecdotal observations?

24AheadDotCom|10.11.09 @ 3:50PM|

A quick search will show that a good number of my previous comments here are simply followed by suggestions that I "STFU" and ad hom attacks. For a recent example of someone simply not having the brainpower to understand my point, see this. For a recent example of my issuing a challenge and getting refused and smeared as a result, see this.

Shut the fuck up, Lonewacko.

|10.11.09 @ 4:14PM|

LoneWacko flipped through the channels on the TV. He was bored and taking a break from relentlessly asking other people to ask politicians questions. Suddenly, he came across a rerun of L.A. Law. At first, he was confused at why anyone would rerun such a piece of shit show. But then, Jimmy Smits came on, and he grew enraged that a DirtyHispanic was taking--even back then--acting jobs from RealAmericans.

He angrily stabbed at the remote, and by pure chance came across an episode of The Facts of Life. God, he wanted to fuck Blair. He'd wipe that privileged smirk off her face, he would.

He pulled down his pants and grabbed the Astroglide. This was going to take a while.

|10.11.09 @ 3:02PM|

Also, 1880 posts as Lonewacko, 1220 as Orange Line Special, 181 as Click 'n' Learn, and 582 as 24AheadDotCom show that Chris Kelly is not an oxymoron. Just a plain moron.

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT

Joe (from Lowell) responds to his comments about ACORN:

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT

|10.11.09 @ 4:07PM|

Shoocking: joe can't admit being wrong. Why, I never would have expected that.

HE LOOMS LARGE

Atanarjuat|10.11.09 @ 5:11PM|

Never seen that blog before, but scanning the comments, joe also is defending Obama's Nobel Peace Prize and conversing with BDB.

Johnny Longtorso|10.11.09 @ 5:35PM|

Does BDB have history here I missed?

|10.11.09 @ 5:42PM|

BDB posted here a lot and mostly conversed with joe. When joe left, he disappeared. Personally, I think BDB is a creation of joe's warped little mind to give him a pretend polite "libertarian" co-conversationalist.

SIV|10.11.09 @ 6:27PM|

It's an Obamatarian blog.

Johnny Longtorso|10.11.09 @ 7:07PM|

What is an Obamatarian blog, he asked threadedly?

Johnny Longtorso|10.11.09 @ 7:08PM|

Sorry, I meant to ask about what 'it' referenced, not for the defn of an Obamatarian blog.

SIV|10.11.09 @ 8:21PM|

Thoreau's blog.He is an Obama voter as are his friends and many of the "regulars" over there. Before Obama came along it was kind of a market-statist thing with an emphasis on anti-war above all else.

Eddie Shortlegs|10.11.09 @ 3:08PM|

ALERT ALERT ALERT

AKA thread hijack.
Not that there's anything unlibertarian with that.

Johnny Longtorso|10.11.09 @ 3:10PM|

It's a Sunday afternoon thread about Suderman's inability to resist novelty rappers, do we really need to worry about 'jackers?

Bingo|10.11.09 @ 3:17PM|

I felt a little embarrassed watching that.

J.|10.11.09 @ 4:01PM|

That was God awful.

|10.11.09 @ 4:53PM|

I dunno. I found it to be about as objectionable as most rap I have encountered in the past several years, but clearly they were "really sayin' somethin'," so that's redeeming social value, at least.

I enjoyed seeing the Ron Paul Liberty Dollar flash by at one point. I don't have the gold version, but I do have the RPLD in Silver. One day, I hope that we will not only "end the Fed," but also end the legal tender laws and the laws under which the Liberty Dollar folks are now being persecuted by the Federal government. The prosecutors/persecutors should be ashamed, and if we were the Americans our ancestors were, we would be boiling tar and plucking feathers in their honor right now.

|10.11.09 @ 5:10PM|

worthy message, fucking awful rap

|10.11.09 @ 5:15PM|

werd

|10.11.09 @ 5:26PM|

I, for one, favor pegging the dollar to the Bling Standard.

Warty|10.11.09 @ 5:50PM|

Lonewacko favors pegging, too.

Warty|10.11.09 @ 5:50PM|

I can't believe I'm late. Shut the fuck up, Lonewacko. Shut the fuck up, joe.

|10.11.09 @ 8:08PM|

These two are better libertarian rap. Just saying...

Peter Suderman|10.11.09 @ 8:31PM|

LDopa,

You're right! That's pretty good, considering. Lame beats, but not bad flow. With a better producer, could be pretty solid.

24AheadDotCom|10.11.09 @ 11:17PM|

Whoa. I used to think of rap as an antisocial celebration of barbaric thugishness, not to mention an example of incredibly bad and predictable "music".

Now, I find out that Peter Suderman - one of the true great libertarian thinkers of our time - is an afficionado.

That changes everything.

hmm|10.12.09 @ 12:48AM|

I have the overwhelming urge to poke you in the eye with a spork.

hmm|10.11.09 @ 10:02PM|

Libertarians need a gang sign.

And a color. (other than hunter orange)

|10.12.09 @ 10:13AM|

I don't have anything remotely intellectual to add to this discussion, I just wanna say this dude is just too white to be rappin'!
