Buchanan: Everything You Know About Hitler's Foreign Policy is Wrong
Back in 1996, George Will wrote a column in Newsweek attacking Pat Buchanan's peculiar brand of conservatism; one that replaced the sunniness of Reaganism with a "snarl of resentment about people 'sitting on the corner playing bongo drums' in downtown Washington, about the economic onslaught from mighty Mexico, about the voicelessness of 'Euro-Americans' about the teaching of 'Godless evolution,' and other affronts to this 'Christian country.'" Will reminded readers of Pitchfork Pat's curious fixation on Nazi war criminals, and his revisionist view of how Jews were murdered at Treblinka:
In 1990 Buchanan, blithely misrepresenting "1,600 medical papers," ridiculed the "so-called 'Holocaust Survivor Syndrome'," which he said involves "fantasics" of martyrdom and heroics. He said that "reportedly" half the survivor testimonies on file at Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem are considered "unreliable." He did not say who reported that.
Regarding the use of diesel engine exhaust to asphyxiate Jews at the Treblinka concentration camp where 850,000 died, in 1990 Buchanan wrote: "Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody." How did he know? "In 1988, 97 kids trapped 400 feet underground in a Washington, D.C., tunnel while two locomotives spewed diesel exhaust into the car, emerged unharmed after 45 minutes." The source of that anecdote? "Somebody sent it to me." It had already appeared in a publication specializing in Holocaust denial.
Buchanan's eagerness to use such stuff that comes in, as it were, through his transom is telling. And as Jacob Weisberg wrote in The New Republic: "Carbon monoxide emitted by diesel engines is sufficient to asphyxiate people when they are crammed by the hundreds into thirteen-foot chambers. According to the 'Encyclopedia of the Holocaust,' suffocation at Treblinka took as much as half an hour: Buchanan's comparison only proves that the children he described had sufficient oxygen to survive whatever length of time they were trapped in the tunnel." Even though the tunnel was open at both ends, some children were made sick.
I covered much of the same territory responding to Buchanan's fact-free column on the John Demjanjuk case, in which he misunderstood the German penal code, compared a former concentration camp guard to Alfred Dreyfus, and generally made a hash of the facts surrounding the prosecution's case. And I took on Buchanan's view of the Holocaust—which he viewed as merely a consequence of a war started by Churchill—here.
And now Buchanan is back, with a column arguing that Hitler, the misunderstood Reichsfuehrer, didn't really want war, and could have been negotiated back from the brink. There is so much nonsense here that one barely knows where to begin, but here is a representative sample of Buchanan's argument:
The German-Polish war had come out of a quarrel over a town the size of Ocean City, Md., in summer. Danzig, 95 percent German, had been severed from Germany at Versailles in violation of Woodrow Wilson's principle of self-determination. Even British leaders thought Danzig should be returned. Why did Warsaw not negotiate with Berlin, which was hinting at an offer of compensatory territory in Slovakia? Because the Poles had a war guarantee from Britain that, should Germany attack, Britain and her empire would come to Poland's rescue.
Same was true of the Sudetenland, says Buchanan. These are, coincidentally, the very talking points one would find on the September 2, 1939 editorial page of the Völkischer Beobachter. And like much revisionism, such idiocy requires a significant refutation (which can be found in most any objective study of the war's origins). But let me just address a rhetorical question posed by Buchanan, and designed to convince readers that Hitler had no strategic designs on his neighbors:
But if Hitler was out to conquer the world — Britain, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, South America, India, Asia, Australia — why did he spend three years building that hugely expensive Siegfried Line to protect Germany from France?
This is pretty thin gruel, even by Buchanan's low standards of evidence. The Siegfried Line (or Westwall), a defensive structure built on Germany's western border, was by no means an indication of Germany's peaceful intentions. During the Sudeten crisis, which resulted in Czechoslovakia's incorporation into the Reich, "Hitler was hoping to prevent British intervention [by building the Westwall], and was certain the French would not act alone," writes historian Ian Kershaw. "A key deterrent, in his view, was the building of [the Westwall]...to provide a significant obstruction to any French invasion." There are piles of evidence to support this uncontroversial argument; simply, the German leadership constructed fortifications in the west in order to move on the east. As one book on the Westwall states flatly, the fortifications were "built not to protect against a French aggression per se but to deter France from attacking in support of her allies when Hitler sought to realize his territorial ambitions in the east."

I think say, a ten year sentence for presence in this country
illegally would be a sufficient deterrent. Of course, children of

Anything called "conservatism" doesn't deserve if its name if it
can't come out in favor of conserving the racial majority of the
country. Besides that, conservatives should be anti-feminist and
isolationist is foreign affairs. Also, we need a war on white

In 1986 Demjanjuk was convicted of crimes against humanity
for his supposed role as a guard at the Treblinka extermination
camp, where, his accusers claimed, he gleefully executed and
tortured prisoners, earning him the sobriquet Ivan Grozny-Ivan the
Terrible. But evidence soon materialized (some of it long withheld
by American prosecutors) suggesting that Israel had the wrong man.
Or, as it later turned out, the right man on the wrong
charge.
Demjanjuk wasn't Ivan the Terrible and he wasn't at Treblinka.So
whoever he is, whatever he did, and wherever he was during the war
they had the wrong man on the wrong Charge.

As much as loathe Buckanan, he is correct that Hitler did not
what to fight a war in 1939. Instead, he had told the Wermacht to
plan on major operations against the Soviet Union in 1944.
Based on his experience with the Western allies at Munich, Hitler
believed that France and Britain would either not declare war or
would make only a token effort and then negotiate. The "phony war"
period resulted in part from Hitler refusing to believe that France
and Britain would not come to terms. Hitler repeated to many
associates his utter shock and disbelief that France and especially
Britain continued to fight on.
Hitler started the greatest war in history based on a
miscalculation of the will of Democracies to fight. . He only
wanted a short sharp war that would give him back the traditionally
Germanic lands in Poland and put him right up next to Stalin so he
could slip the shank in at the proper time.
WWII was blunder on Hitler's. It was nothing more than accident.
It's something to keep in mind the next time someone holds forth
about how reasonable this or that autocrat is and how that
reasonableness will prevent them from doing something incredible
stupid and destructive.

In general, the less intelligent are more likely to be criminals
both because they have more trouble understanding the consequences
of their actions and they have less to lose. Even if that weren't
the case, it takes intelligence to build and maintain a first world
civilization. That's why white and Asian countries do well while
black and Mestizo ones don't.
If you want to see what a Hispanic majority America will look like,
just go to any school, neighborhood or institution that went from
majority white to majority Hispanic.
And when there are racial disparities in income, those at the
bottom don't just accept it. They vote for government to give them
affirmative action jobs and to redistribute the wealth from the
more intelligent race to themselves.
Don't think affirmative action will go away once whites are the
minority. It will get worse. As
I've written about Malaysia, ethnic Malays make up 60% of the
population, but the economy is dominated by the 30% Chinese. The
reason for this is IQ differences (Malays about 90, Chinese 105).
But the Malays don't need to justify this discrimination by saying
that the Chinese practice institutional discrimination or any such
nonsense. They have the political power and therefore take whatever
they can. Blacks and Hispanics behave the same way and whites are
going to have to eventually wake up and defend their own interests
if they hope to have any kind of future in this country.
I've always wanted to find a libertarian who can explain to me how
you can maintain a capitalist society in a democracy where the
majority of people belong to ethnic groups that are on the
socioeconomic bottom and think nothing of voting for
redistributionist economic policy or affirmative action to
"correct" the "social injustice."

I was going to write this Wednesday, so it must be "Prove We're

supporter and defender in the past against such smears, can't
stomach this latest column.
I don't know, maybe Poland insisted upon keeping Gdansk (oops,
excuse me, Danzig!)because they wanted an outlet on the sea and
didn't want to be a landlocked country depending upon the Germans
to charge them an arm and a leg for imports?
The problem was not Polish demands, it was the treaty that ended
World War I and divided Europe up after the war and created all
these ethnic messes (and giving the Poles a German city, port or no
port, was a ticking time bomb) that ultimate led to Hitler and
World War II. Pat should be asking whether the great tragedy of the
West could have and should have been avoided, not saying Hitler was
misunderstood. Because anyone reading Mein Kampf or anyone who
studied the German Question knows that German nationalists had
their eyes on Lebensraum which would have included Poland and much
of Russia. Remember the "World Island?"
And by the way, what does Pat have against the Polish colonels?
Arch-Catholic and authoritarian, one would have thought they would
have got along great. All they were doing was their duty, which was
defending their homeland against aggressive invaders. If wasn't for
the Poles, the Soviets would have conquered Central Europe. How can
anyone condemn them for protecting their Motherland?

Wow, I thought growing up in Mississippi had set my disgust
meter pretty high when it comes to racist garbage. But, Mr. Hoste
still manages to trip it. Anyway, i'm a mixture of mick and
redskin. But, somehow managed to luck into a high IQ. If I got paid
based on my IQ, or got extra votes for it, or got laid more often
(in my pre-family guy days) I'd say IQ was relevant. Sorry, it's a
really limited measurement of intelligence. Also, since Mexicans
are descended genetically from western Europeans, shouldn't that
make them smarter? How much native American blood does it take to
lower their IQ until they are unacceptable for citizenship?
I could also mention that libertarianism being a philosophy based
on the sovereignty of the individual makes racial differences in IQ
about as relevant as racial differences in skin color. Humans are
entitled to the same human rights, regardless of the circumstances
of their birth.

A few high IQ immigrants I can live with but it should never reach

Anyway, i'm a mixture of mick and redskin. But, somehow
managed to luck into a high IQ. If I got paid based on my IQ, or
got extra votes for it, or got laid more often (in my pre-family
guy days) I'd say IQ was relevant.
You know, there's always someone who pops up in these discussions
who feels the need to tell us he has a high IQ before assuring us
that IQ doesn't matter.

not what to fight a war in 1939. Instead, he had told the Wermacht
to plan on major operations against the Soviet Union in
1944.
I would note that Hitler was ready to go to war in 1938, until
Chamberlain made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The plans were
drawn up and the troops were massing. The invasion of
Czechoslovakia would have started Oct. 1, 1938; Chamberlain
prostrated at the feet of Hitler 36 hours before that.

The more important point is that the IQ of a group has no bearing
on how we should treat the individual members of that group. To

weren't diesel fumes from engines of that time (WW2) and earlier much worse, containing much more carbon monoxide. I believe modern diesel vehicles have catalytic converters that cut the carbon monoxide levels in the exhaust fumes to very low levels.

In general, the less intelligent are more likely to be criminals both because they have more trouble understanding the consequences of their actions and they have less to lose. Even if that weren't the case, it takes intelligence to build and maintain a first world civilization. That's why white and Asian countries do well while black and Mestizo ones don't.

Here I was about to point out the impracticalities of rounding
