Let me know when the tea party crowd starts 'disappearing' people a-la Jimmy Hoffa.
Beware the Bully Nuts
I just found the name of my new band, as well as the title of our
first album.
It's funny to me how people on the left hate being defined as some sort of monolithic bunch of people who think exactly the same and yet everywhere I look the phrase "tea baggers" is being used right now. No, tools, you don't all think exactly the same.
"A New Level of Viciousness Enters America's Political
Dialogue"
Meet the new level of viciousness, same as the old level of
viciousness.
I was shocked by the thuggishness of some of these protesters
that I saw in videos. These people ARE crazy. I fear that normal
citizens are being shouted down by these loons.
Then I realized I was watching a Reason piece about teachers unions
protesting about the California budget crisis.
I wonder how the company that makes Astroturf® feels about journalists' attempts to redefine the word, especially with the negative connotation.
Legally speaking, insanity is a medical condition. That's why you can be locked up for with without the standard due process. So, should we worry about the party in power making blanket desparaging statements about the mental stability of the opposition? Nah, that's just diabetic talk.
Then I realized I was watching a Reason piece about teachers
unions protesting about the California budget crisis.
That's different. They were fighting for social justice.
Wow! The health care overhaul* fans are demonizing their
opponents. The opponents of massive, congressionally penned health
care legislation pass the ammo by associating themselves with
nitwits and the delusional.
The usual media suspects are still in the bag for Obama and massive
federal intervention in the economy.
Color me blasé regarding this whole hullabaloo.
The opponents did turn John Dingell's (motto: this seat has been in
the family since its creation in 1933) town hall meeting into a
farce. For that I'm appreciative.
* Overhaul, nationalization, whatever.
Whatever one thinks of the Minutemen, their leader did NOT
deserve what he got bum-rushed at Columbia University.
And liberals claim they don't do what the health-care heretics are
doing.
Bully nuts? I thought the correct term was "wing nuts". And I'm not sure John Waters would approve of the term "tea baggers" to describe them. However, they may be waiting for the Egg Man

..As an Internment/Resettlement Specialist for the Army National
Guard, you will ensure the smooth running of military
confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility,
similar to those duties conducted by civilian Corrections Officers.
This will require you to know proper procedures and military law;
and have the ability to think quickly in high-stress situations.
Specific duties may include assisting with supervision and
management operations; providing facility security; providing
custody, control, supervision, and escort; and counseling
individual prisoners in rehabilitative programs....
This country is going to Hell in a handcart!

A new level of viciousness enters America's political
dialogue
Go take a history class you fucking twit.
Seriously. Go and take one. We'll wait for the mea culpa that you
should be punched in the dick for writing such uninformed
tripe.
This demonization always takes place when the Left is in power, because everyone knows the Right could take it in a fight. The only way for the Left to get Middle to keep sleeping with him is to convince her that Right is so insane he would cut off her hands just for fun.
I fail to see why someone would feel it necessary to take
libertarianism so seriously.
Here's Stephen's sure-fire method of discussing anything with a
libertarian:
Don't. Libertarianism is political/economic insanity dressed up in
logical fallacies. Just chuckle and give them rhetorical pats on
the head for being so gosh-darn cute.

Name 5 and give examples.

When your constituents are chanting "Tyranny! Tyranny!" at your
town-hall meetings, refusing to take them seriously is likely to be
career-limiting.
He was the first Christian marytr, right? It explains everything.
The beauty part is, in this country one MUST take us wingnuts seriously, if only because we're so well armed.

Fuck off, troll.
You would think the media would realize that if thy continue to bash a majority of Americans, it is very unlikely they'll ever get a bailout. I suspect we won't be hearing much about that anymore.
Look, a good deal of people in the right and left's base are
kind of scary to mainstream people, and some of that actually is
their own doing. And those on the right are really mad right now,
because they got their ass handed to them in an election, and since
a characterstic of the right is to assume that all "right thinking"
people are in agreement with them its natural for them to turn to
angry conspiracy theories...
But these people were just as angry and vocal before the election.
What's changed is the Democrats and the left stupidly overreached,
and now a lot more than that group is angry or fearful of what the
Dems are doing, or are at least more receptive to that
rhetoric...
But this was to be expected, really. If you look at the states Obama lost, many of them he lost big, and the states he won, many of them won big. So you have two pretty polarized groups that see the other side as the fucking devil, and so when one side tries to ram something through (which to be fair they would have to do under the circumstances, they aren't going to turn many folks) the other side is going to be really, really, really, fucking mad about it...
So you have two pretty polarized groups that see the other side as the fucking devil...
And both are right!
"He was the first Christian marytr, right?"
Some would argue Judas.
"And those on the right are really mad right now, because they
got their ass handed to them in an election"
Right. That's why they were disrupting town hall meeting on
November 5, 2008.
Dipshit.
and since a characterstic of the right
people in general is to assume that all "right
thinking" people are in agreement with them
FTFY.
In which I profess my cultural ignorance:
What's the origin of the beautiful image in the post?
It feels like Taxi Driver to me, but I can't place it.
When was the last time political dissidents were treated as
insane? Oh, yes, that's right - in the good ol' Soviet Union.
Then again, considering the belief in the
Obamessiah, this might eventually look more like the Spanish
Inquisition!
I'm curious, if Tom Tancredo gets shouted down on the campus of the University of North Carolina by your various multi-cultural/leftis political groups, is that an accepted form of protest or only protests against leftists pushing more government health care (on top of the socialized medicine we already have)? How many conservatives and or libertarians have complained for years about their treatment in speaking engagements on college campuses by the loony left? Are we finally saying "Hey, whatever works, do it?"
"and since a characterstic of the right is to assume that all
"right thinking" people are in agreement with them its natural for
them to turn to angry conspiracy theories..."
Yeah! Cause leftists never do this.
Thanks for the carefully reasoned and nuanced analysis!
Bring it on, Leftists. Keep pushing.
To those that want socialism, you have plenty of options. Leave and
go to one of those countries.
Those that want freedom will make their stand here and it will be
at your expense.
"To those that want socialism, you have plenty of options. Leave
and go to one of those countries."
You mean like the U.S.?
Farm subsidies, Medicare, Social Security, Medicade, bank bailouts,
military-industrial complex, Amtrak what of all these things aren't
socialist to you?
I really can't support any group stifling speech by shouting down their opponents. On the other hand, it is pretty funny watching the Left get all hysterical about their own tactics being used against them.
Spartacus is right!
