Failed-before-he-could-dream reality star, Rod Blagojevich, was interviewed on NBC's Today Show...today. Best/most-quoted line: "I guess the judge did save me from eating bugs." Follow the pictorial link below for the video. The interview begins at the 2:30 mark:
Watching Blagojevich turn meek and desperate; listening to the disgraced guvna stumbling over his words, trying to explain that he needs money to support his family; being rejected by Jerry Springer!–it's all too much. The Blagojevich boondoggle has stopped being entertaining.
Blagojevich's sad, pathetic display of self-preservation is almost genuine enough to garner sympathy. Yeah, even in light of the proposed $80,000 per episode appearance and the comparision between running a state to scarfing down bugs on a reality show, which Blagojevich quickly calls "an idea that was presented to me...not an idea I had."
At Blagojevich's hearing, the Honorable James Zagel said, "I don't think the defendent fully understand the position he finds himself in." Take Blagojevich at his word that he does understand his position: hopeless. It's now time focus on much more important issues.
Columnist Steve Chapman explained why Blagojevich won't go quietly. My own cheeky Blago posts here and here.

It would be a wonderful thing to see Blago as Spitzer's sidekick on a new late-night talk show.

almost genuine enough to gardner
sympathy.
Garner, Fonz. Garner.
Though related to ProL's statement above, gardeners do have
hos.
Damnit! Epi beat me to it. I never get the chance to be a pedantic prick. Someone always beats me to it.
Yes, instead of a band, Spitz will have a group of whores who
just stand around and look good, in a skanky sort of way.
It's either damn it or dammit, Paul.
What's this gardner sympathy I keep hearing about. Some medical
MJ grow-op?
I want ins.
No, no, Palmer's chicks were too Eurosleazy for the Spitz. I was thinking more Facebook whore, myself. It's Spitzer's milieu.

Facebook whore
Definition, plz!
Also, I like how our very own Barry Zuckercorn refers to himself as
"cheeky."
"If I'm right, just give me a little tap on the fanny."

Referencing Henry Winkler in a post by Jeff Winkler? Doesn't that
create some kind of Fonzie vortex? You may have destroyed us
all!
AAAYYYYYY
Blago understands the position the judge is in. The dishonorable
judge will find him guilty. The public demands it. After all, we've
all heard the evidence against the defendant that was selectivly
presented to the media by the government. All that's left now is to
pretend to give him a fair trial and then ship him off to
prison.
None of that is to suggest I think he is innocent, just saying the
cooperation between the police (FBI) and the media is utter
bullshit. The judge, or the jury, knows what the verdict needs to
be.
Epi-
What is it with you? How many times do you have to beat everybody
to the keyboard?
I so hope that the guy get off. Why? Am I betraying my
principles? After all, Blago was a public sector parasite. The guy
is a democrat. Pretty putrid combination in my book.
What gives? The prospect that there is more to the story. The
prospect that the guy has the goods on a plethora of politicians,
policymakers and other public sector pukes. The prospect that the
guy can name names and take down others who feed at the public
trough. The near certain prospect that the prosecution, like so
many thousands of others in our history, is sordid and coming into
court with anything but clean hands.
I felt the same way about ole Jim Trafficant. He may have been in
the public sector too long for my tastes and he may have been a
democrat, but at least he challenged the IRS.
Can we start a TV show where people pay to take swings at his face with a baseball bat? I know I would bid to be on that reality TV show.
