The Iowa Independent gives all Earth's children a reason to be joyful:
The "Ralph Nader Democratic Caucus Campaign Draft Committee" is advertising for campaign staffers on the craigslist web pages for Des Moines and New Hampshire.
The Des Moines ad offers $1000 a week for full-time work between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15 and seeks "8 experienced (non-profit or political) organizers full time, and 12 field interns (6 part and 6 fulltime)."
Why are Nader fans trying to draft him as a Democrat now that dame Cynthia McKinney has left the Green Party's nomination up for grabs? Why would Nader enter the Democratic race when he's basically endorsed Mike Gravel, introducing him at the 2007 Take Back America conference? He seemed ready to pass the torch when I talked to him a few months back, but he's increasingly bearish on the candidates not named "Ralph Nader."
I figure Nader's brainscan right now would look a lot like Newt Gingrich's. Both guys have been in the national spotlight; both look at the current candidates and see them blowing opportunities or saying stupid things or otherwise falling short. They're like John Huarte watching the current Notre Dame team and cursing from the couch between handfuls of Bugles.

Dave -- please recheck the minor words after "... but he's

I figure ..."
I hadn't heard that Nader likes Gravel. Neat. I would support
Nader.
Gravel gave an interview on The Young Turks about the drug war that
is the most assertive and knowledgeable I have ever heard from any
presidential candidate.
I just posted the You Tube telephone interview on my blog
A Left Independent
"The war on drugs is the most ridiculous thing going on." 2008
presidential candidate Mike Gravel
I could support this man.
I suppose this whole race would be interesting if I were a
politcal reporter, media talking head, political hack, or
politician. Since I am none of those parasites (no offense,
Weigel), I find it hard to get interested. Ron Paul is a blip of
interest but since I figure he has no chance (I would love to be
wrong), all I see is giant douches and turd sandwiches. And I see
the parasites going crazy earlier and earlier each election cycle,
and I realize how many people are invested in and feed off of who
has the power in the government. And I realize that soon enough it
will be all elections/politics all the time without respite.
And then I take a Valium and drink a 40 of malt and feel
better--for a while.

Quoting a wise and wondrous man, "Morphine is even better".
I was accosted by a freakishly thin, oddly coiffed fellow over
the weekend who was collecting signatures for Al Gore. Not a
petition to get him to run, but signatures to get him on the ballot
if (when, in this guy's mind) Al Gore decides to run.
Nader, Gore, sheesh. This is looking to be the biggest circus I can
remember.

highnumber, Was it this
guy? (SFW) Did you run?
And I slowly stepped away and averted my eyes while he spoke to my buddy.
Yeah, always a good idea not to make eye contact with political
loonies.
Getting signatures for a candidate who isn't even running, though.
That's a guy who's really committed. Or should be.
