Humor columnist Dave Barry (read his interview in reason) is making a third consecutive run for president and the Miami Herald has set up a forum where readers can pepper him with questions. This seems to be the extent of the Barry campaign, but it's more fun than a barrel of Mini-Mitts.
Q: 54-40 or fight. Still operative?
A: This is the cornerstone of my foreign policy.
In the less-frantic days before his presidential bid, Barry contributed to
reason's Person of the Year
forum.

Dave Berry & Ron Paul, a presidential ticket with two libertarians and four first names.
Whatever happened to whatshisname, the comedian who was going to run as a Libertarian?
Now that Lyndon LaRouche has retired from running, who, oh who will warn us of conspiracies including Queen Elizabeth?
Our school's humor magazine published a Lyndon LaRouche issue
with the cover "Ninth's Time the Charm!"
Looks like they should had done some research
If you're asking about Doug Stanhope, he quit (and said for
Howard Stern to have Ron Paul on his show, BTW). Howard, so far,
has not, and is flogging for the Democrats, only, but hopefully
that will change.

Could just be dense, but I don't understand "54-40 or fight. Still operative?" Explain, please
"Now that Lyndon LaRouche has retired from running, who, oh
who will warn us of conspiracies including Queen
Elizabeth?"
From what I can tell, they've all joined the Ron Paul campaign. Not
only that, they're in charge! I haven't seen a bigger collection of
kooks, quacks and conspiracists since the heydey of the JBS. Ron
Paul is coming to my town to speak, and the national campaign has
urged everyone to distance themselves from the fringe. so what do
the local campaign organizers do? Invite G. Edward Griffin and Joe
Bannister to speak instead!
I'm so freaking pissed, I'm thinking of joining the Dave Berry
campaign instead.
