I get quite a lot of personal satisfaction from the volunteer
work that I do (I coach a girl's soccer team). It's fun. If it
wasn't, I wouldn't do it.
No, scratch that, I'm a "Soldier in the army of compassion". Ha
ha.
I once had to give up some volunteer work I was doing, for a
job.
The job didn't work out.
Lesson: self-interest often isn't.
