I'm behind by about 15 minutes because of Debateoke, but the 80 percent liberal room I'm watching with seems to agree that Bush is winning.

My 60 percent liberal room is too busy laughing at Bush's ticks and mannerisms...
i'm blogging despite dripping blood...
shouldn't the prez have made sure we had more than two flu shot
suppliers? should he really blame that on an english company?
This is not made up. A group of friends about 24 are watching and at Debate 2 the Liberals brought a bag that was a golf bag but looked like a body bag for Bush because they felt he was poor in the 1st debate. they never took it out. they hate Bush. this time they didn't bring it and have said even though they will never vote for him, he is more a of a "real leader" (not just the TV kind) and far less canned that Kerry tonight. Although I am a Bush fan and think Kerry is a GREAT debater.

"shouldn't the prez have made sure we had more than two flu shot

He was too busy making sure we have more shoe suppliers, more dust
mop suppliers, and more odor-eater suppliers. Exactly the sort of
thing Presidents are supposed to do.

I can't believe I'm reading this on a libertarian blog.
Do you honestly feel it's the task of the executive branch to shop for flu shots?
How is the Prez suppossed to make sure we have more than two
suppliers? It is a private industry and he doesn't control it. And
the Brit company WAS at fault - the Brits even say so.
Oh, and lawsuits from guys like Edwards are why more companies are
making drugs - duhhhhh
Exactly the sort of thing Presidents are supposed to
do.
In case you're saying the prez shouldn't worry about the literal
health of the nation, you're wrong. That's why we have those
buildings with CDC and HHS on them. (Please don't deny we have
those buildings).
Kerry did mention that the laws against employers aren't being
enforced and that people from the middle east are coming across our
borders, but he needed to quote some alarming stats.

So Hispanics illegally immigrating is OK, but Saudis doing so isn't? Is it me or was Kerry betraying support for racial profiling with that remark?
For people who haven't been paying attention, the President was
wrong, it was not an English company making the flu shots.
It was an American company, based in San Francisco. The *factory*
was in England.
This was Bush's best performance of the 3 debates and Kerry's worst. Bush won it.
POST DEBATE COVERAGE
"Nice ass there mister kerry!" - "Why thank you, Bush just handed
it to me."
"And where did you get that fine clock?" - "Well, to tell you the
truth, I have had it for a while... Dubbya just cleaned it"
Think about all the american vaccine makers who were put out of work when Bush bought vaccines from a company that outsources!

It was completely out of line for Kerry to talk about Mary Cheney. Just imagine if someone discussed your personal life during a debate with your father's business partner. Mary Cheney deserves the same privacy we all claim for ourselves.
The point isn't being understood. NOBODY wants to make vaccines in USA anymore. It is the lawsuits, and it is one of the most expensive problems in our current litigious society. You make almost no money from vaccines (even tho our society is best set up to devise them), because to charge Junior for a hepatitis shot is outrageous. They should all be free to the little guy; that IS his birthright. But let him develop encephalitis or any of the various maladies of childhood and watch the suits multiply. "Why, he just is so unconcerned about school anymore, and his grades!!" "Well, ma'm, didn't he just recently get a pneumonia shot? If I were you, you know what I'd do." Almost every penny of John Edwards fortune was made from such "popular science." Dick Matern, MD So the solution? MAKE all drug companies enter a lottery and the one that draws the short straw will be forced by the government to make the vaccines this year. It's the president's responsibility, isn't it?

'Think about all the american vaccine makers who were put out of
work when Bush bought vaccines from a company that
outsources!'
The Clinton administration set up a policy with the government
being the main buyer of vaccines. Being the largest buyer, they
began to dictate price. This drove away many companies who make the
vaccines....if we'd stuck with the original, free market solution,
several companies would still be making vaccines, and we wouldn't
have a severe supply issue when one factory has a problem

There you go again:
Gosh darn it you're right! I've been wrong all my life! I'm gonna
run out right now to join my local republican party, and I'll tear
up all those Teresa pics that I used to masturbate to.
This was Bush's best debate performance, and he still lost. Too
many silly grins and unanswered attacks. His clock got cleaned on
the privatization of social security -- costs too much.
Pell grants, pell grants. His lie about Osama -- go to the
tape.
So I think, since I can't vote for Kerry, I'm going to support the
libertarian this year. Oh well. Four years of Kerry then we can get
a real president better than either of these guys.
Maybe the politicians should mention the fact that health care
costs have soared because those who carry insurance are subsidizing
those who don't. Hospitals HAVE to treat indigent patients at
emergency centers.
The increase in uncompensated care for immigrants has forced some
hospitals to reduce staff, INCREASE RATES, cut back services, and
close maternity wards and trauma centers.
In the last decade, 60 California emergency rooms have closed. 45
California hospital losses totaled $390 million in 2001, up from
$325 million in 2000 and $316 million in 1999. The crisis reaches
throughout the state, with 80 percent of emergency departments
reporting losses.
I'm sure this is happening in all the states.

$390 Million in 2001," California Medical Association, February 27,

"Kerry just kicked into gear!!"
By saying Mary Cheney... yeah that lasted about a second.
Anyone paying the slightest bit of attention saw Bush win... the
flop sweat on Kerry told all. And so of course tomorrow the MSM
will insist Kerry won.

Just to say, the flu vaccine company is Chiron and they are
located in Emeryville, not San Francisco. Nit picking, yes, but
those of us in the Bay Area take these things VERY seriously.
Had Kerry been armed with the knowledge that the company is based
in the US and had (gasp!) outsourced the manufacturing component of
their business, he could have really womped Bush with that. I don't
give a two-penny damn about outsourcing, but that one would have
been fun to watch. Bush would have to have dragged out a real
ubber-smirk to keep his head from imploding from the more-natural
scowl.
I TiVo'd the debate and just watched it and I give this one to
Kerry, again on mechanics and presentation. Bush doesn't strike me
as a commander-in-chief, he just strikes me as an ignorant
tool.
Just because there the HHS and CDC exist doesn't mean they should. Strictly interpreting the constitution would require the dismantling of almost all federal departments/centers/etc.
"So I think, since I can't vote for Kerry, I'm going to support

BWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!
Ow. Ow. My ribs. Stop, you're killing me over here! I'd ask what
you're smoking, but you're Libertarians, I KNOW what you're
smoking.
Seriously, now. Get this through your thick heads, all of you: As
long as you play your intellectually superior little blame America
games you will never ever ever get a President elected. Ever. Trust
me on this. I went from voting a straight Libertarian ticket to
voting only for local Libertarian candidates because of the
incredibly annoying attitude of intellectual superiority (backed by
nothing, I might add) all you pot smoking little freaks espouse.
From now on, at the state and national level, I will never vote
Libertarian again, unless you clean up your act and get your heads
out of your asses.
Two things for you to remember for the next election cycle:
1. Americans are sick and tired of hearing your juvenile bullshit
about the War on Drugs. Put it on the back burner and find some
issues and/or principles that resonate with the average voter, or
give it up and disband the party.
2. Get serious about the War on Terror, realize that we are in the
middle of World War 4, or shut up and go home. We average joes and
janes are sick and fucking tired of your juvenile Sept. 10 attitude
towards life and death matters. Get serious or get out.
That flu vaccine thing could have been handled a lot better by Bush.. it is absolutely true that American companies don't make this stuff anymore because of the risk of lawsuits. Flu vaccine is, after all, a weakened version of the flu virus, given so that our immune systems can develop the antibodies without the risk of the full strength virus.. but the vaccine nevertheless makes some people sick. If one person died because of the flu vaccine, the maker would be crushed by the inevitable lawsuit. The ambulance-chasing John Edwards types have made it necessary for us to "outsource" this stuff. Can't blame that on Bush.

Um, so why is it bad to mention that Mary Cheney is a Lesbian. Is that something that everyone should feel sorry for her family about? Should she be ashamed? If someone told you that your daughter couldn't get married to whomever she wanted, wouldn't you tell them to go f*** themselves?
Even I cringed when Kerry brought up Mary Cheney. In the VP
debate, the moderator brought it up, so she was fair game, but
Kerry just dragged his opponent's daughter's sex life into the
debate unprompted. Points off.
As far as I could tell, though, that was really his only bad
spot.
Libertarian: "So I think, since I can't
vote for Kerry, I'm going to support the libertarian this year. Oh
well. Four years of Kerry then we can get a real president better
than either of these guys."
When will you big-L Libertarians learn that the best long-term
strategy for getting a true party of limited government into play
is to support the Republicans to the demise of the Democrats. The
past 20+ years have shown that the more successfull Republicans are
the more radical the Democrats become. This has driven so many
traditional Democrat voters (e.g. "neo-cons") to the Republican
party. In reality, the Republicans today are, for
the most part, the Democrats of 40 years ago. As the Democrat party
becomes more marginalized it allows the schism of the small
government/fiscal responsibility wing of the Republicans from the
ever-growing government-funded morality wing.
As long as the Democrats remain a viable party on the national
level, fear of their ascendendancy will prevent a critical mass of
small-l libertarians from leaving the Republicans.
Lonewacko,
So the existence of government buildings with an agency name on the
marquee justifies certain kinds of government action? What kind of
argument is that? Good thing there's not a bunch of buildings that
say Ministry of Love, Ministry of Truth, and Ministry of
Plenty.
As soon as we get the government out of the business of dispensing
medical services, we'll get rid of the damn buildings. Or (to
borrow imagery from William Morris) take down the names and use
them to store manure.
I thought the entire city of Washington D.C. was already used for manure storage.
"I thought the entire city of Washington D.C. was already used

Production, possibly.
