The much-hated INDUCE Act appears to have been back-burnered for the present; time to crank up the iPod in celebration.

Lines like this should make your blood boil:
Technology organizations, consumer groups and the entertainment
industry failed to reach a consensus on the language of the
proposed bill, which would make it illegal to encourage copyright
infringement.
Ah, this wonderful democracy, where corporations and consumer
groups craft legislation in order to protect their market
share..
Hans, welcome to the 21st century. All us good Libertarians or
folk with libertarian leanings will propound to no end about the
relative powerlessness of the individual (although all his g'damned
rights are protected) when calculated against the bargaining power
of a collective. The group, in this context, is "organizations,"
"groups," and "industry." All three are framed by markets (or,
cease to exist in the absence of them), which means their
participation in legislative processes is probably just fine. Why?
Because they can and that's how it works.
Hans, what kind of world do you imagine, where organizations,
groups, and industry have no say in legislative process? Frankly, I
want to live in that world, but I don't know what it looks like and
wonder if you do.
"We couldn't get the (entertainment industry) to follow
through with what the committee told us to do, which was to punish
bad acting," Greenberg said.
Yeah, like Hollywood's gonna go along with a bill punishing bad
acting. As if they want Ben Affleck and Leo Di Caprio behind
bars!
Celebrate? Hardly. Like it says, it's merely shelved, and like with a lot of bad ideas they'll wait for the heat to die down and try again later under a different name and different details.
