Bok, you retard, just go eat some Drano. FDR was a Nazi for real and a Red at the same time, just like Mozart. Why do you even submit anything to reason besides their stupid Leftertarian editors lapping up your bullshit and cutting a check with donations from hallucinogenic addled trust fund babies? You have pictures of The Jacket accepting food stamps, don't you!

Drano? I prefer Ajax.

[Couldn't find it in English, but you get the idea]

|3.4.11 @ 8:38AM|

You're angry for a delusion.

Rich|3.4.11 @ 8:43AM|

Wow, Suki. Kinda, um, irritable today. Surely you don't mean *all* that.

Chip is pretty good with the facial expressions.

Almanian|3.4.11 @ 11:08AM|

Good morning, Suki!

|3.4.11 @ 1:05PM|

What happened to your daily post of"good morning Reason"?

Fist of Etiquette|3.4.11 @ 4:56AM|

Why are George Plimpton and Nina Totenberg watching FDR get laser tooth whitening done by his invisible dentist?

Anachronisms: In 1937, they didn't have plasma televisions, sectional sofas or t-shirts.

some guy|3.4.11 @ 7:23AM|

Did they have video recording devices?

Ice Nine|3.4.11 @ 7:31AM|

No, they didn't. But in 2011 they do have historical documentaries on television.

Ice Nine|3.4.11 @ 7:33AM|

(lamer alert) Didn't see some guy's before posting mine.

pants|3.4.11 @ 10:02AM|

lies. unless you count Larry the Cable guy does America as a historical documentary

squarooticus|3.4.11 @ 9:13AM|

The laser tooth whitening line made me chuckle.

Ice Nine|3.4.11 @ 7:06AM|

Don't know how I would have ever figured that cartoon out without the asterisk explanation.

Johnny [Longtorso]|3.4.11 @ 7:09AM|

Ha [ha] ha [ha] ha [ha]. I [get] it.

|3.4.11 @ 7:11AM|

I like the symbolism of the suck ass commie union stooges wearing red, though.

Mr Whipple©®™|3.4.11 @ 7:58AM|

I thought they were wearing red because it is the color of the U of Wisconsin, but I like your reason better.

cynical|3.4.11 @ 9:13AM|

Like the real ones in Wisconsin?

|3.4.11 @ 7:11AM|

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

TheOtherSomeGuy|3.4.11 @ 7:11AM|

I like how even the dog is growling at the TV.

.|3.4.11 @ 7:15AM|

If you look closely at the dog's eyes, you can tell that it's actually looking at its handler, just out of frame.

d|3.5.11 @ 1:14AM|

Er...should've replied to '.'

d|3.5.11 @ 1:13AM|

Balko, is that you? Plugging your latest piece using a pseudo-nom-de-guerre, eh?

JOhnny MAckson|3.4.11 @ 7:19AM|

Ha Ha! Eleanor Roosevelt was hawt. I get it. LOL

Jordan Elliot|3.4.11 @ 7:42AM|

Sentient and utterly insane...

Great bot.

Matrix|3.4.11 @ 7:31AM|

Watching old Batman re-runs with Burgess Meredith as The Penguin?

|3.4.11 @ 7:41AM|

That is actually better than the cartoon.

rather|3.4.11 @ 7:57AM|

Bok you know that cigars are no longer historically correct

Mr Whipple©®™|3.4.11 @ 8:00AM|

Finally! A Friday Funny worth sharing. I was beginning to lose hope.

Mr Whipple©®™|3.4.11 @ 8:10AM|

What does the guy have in his hands. Looks like he's pulling the cork from a wine bottle.

Fatty Bolger|3.4.11 @ 8:32AM|

He's getting ready to piss on the TV.

rather|3.4.11 @ 8:43AM|

I don't think she's into urolagnia

Bob|3.4.11 @ 9:08AM|

It's a penis pump. Don't you know that all union members have ED?

The note from the doctor is so they can skip work and go to the protests.

Fatty Bolger|3.4.11 @ 8:27AM|

I get it! They're all zombies. Hilarious!

|3.4.11 @ 8:40AM|

Why the script pad on the table, are these people oxycontin addicts?

Mr Whipple©®™|3.4.11 @ 9:05AM|

Nah. There were doctors writing absentee excuses for the "striking" teachers.

Fist of Etiquette|3.4.11 @ 9:10AM|

Clearly the teachers union is being portrayed here as addicts. The man is "shooting up" (as they say on the street). Look at the track marks on his arms.

And possibly fetishists, too. I think that's a mannequin sitting on the sofa next to him.

|3.4.11 @ 9:17AM|

If you use your imagination real hard you can transform Chip Bok into the Ralph Steadman of our time.

kwh|3.4.11 @ 12:03PM|

We all know getting a fake doctor's note is only OK if it's Flush Rimjob, getting all dosed up to bring you Excellence in Liecasting with Talent on Loan from Blob.

Union Teacher|3.4.11 @ 2:09PM|

A++ You've successfully put 11 second-grade insults into one post. One to the third grade with you!

kinnath|3.4.11 @ 8:58AM|

XKCD is the real winner today.

Spoonman.|3.4.11 @ 9:42AM|

Eh, SMBC is still better today, even though this is a good day for XKCD. XKCD's been slipping.

|3.4.11 @ 9:01AM|

Shouldn't there be a label saying "DOG" with an arrow?

Rich|3.4.11 @ 9:10AM|

Good gracious, no!

That would obviously be incendiary rhetoric.

Bee Tagger|3.4.11 @ 9:02AM|

Geez, as long as it involves his penis, Bob Dole will shill for anything.

|3.6.11 @ 11:25PM|

Tagger you degenerate bastard! Don't you think Bob Dole has a RIGHT to an erection??? i used to buy into all this libertarian bullshit, until some progressive angel told me i had a right to get laid. It turned my life around. And if you have a RIGHT to get laid (which you do), then ipso facto, you MUST have a right to an erection (it only stands to reason, er, so to speak). i remember my 9th grade PE teacher, he used to tell me, "Kid, you can't fake a hardon." Boy; those were the days...

mr simple|3.4.11 @ 9:08AM|

As I tried to explain in a previous similar thread, FDR was not actually against public escort unions. If you read the actual letter he wrote (or at least an accurate copy) he says he's only against them having the ability to strike. He still thought they should be able to collectively bargain, just with some limitations like not being able to shut down government with a strike. He may have arrived at half of a correct conclusion, but his reasoning was pure statist. Claiming that he was actually against public unions is disingenuous and actually hurts our arguments to the same by making us look like opportunistic liars.

Also, FDR was some Nazi. He openly praised Hitler's governing style, up to the point when he started killing Jews.

mr simple|3.4.11 @ 9:11AM|

I mean, come on, both Hitler an Lennin broke up the unions when they came to power. Once the common man was in charge the people would just be stricken against themselves, as the reasoning goes. Yet I don't think we can hold up these as examples for our side.

mr simple|3.4.11 @ 9:12AM|

Striking, not stricken.

|3.4.11 @ 9:15AM|

You know who else killed Jews?

Barely Suppressed Rage|3.4.11 @ 9:39AM|

Pharoah?

Yahweh|3.4.11 @ 9:51AM|

I did. Gotta keep those bitches in line, yo.

Almanian|3.4.11 @ 11:11AM|

Palestinians?

sarcasmic|3.4.11 @ 9:43AM|

I can see why he'd be against public escort unions going on strike.

He'd never get laid.

Bradley|3.4.11 @ 9:48AM|

This one is actually pretty funny if you crop out all the dialogue. I chuckled at the preview thumbnail.

|3.4.11 @ 9:51AM|

lol, oh yeah, thats pretty funny when you think about it.

I like that even the DOCTOR'S NOTE PAD was deemed significant and given a text label.

Almanian|3.4.11 @ 11:12AM|

Wow, that one was almost funny. Just about fifty too many labels, however.

As noted above, Chip forgot to hang a sign on the dog that says "Dog", and on the woman that says "Nina Totenberg".

Otherwise, C+ for a Friday Funny, Chipper.

Bucky|3.4.11 @ 11:37AM|

better would be Obama polishing his Nobel Peace Prize with CNN on in the background showing pictures from different riots from different countries.
the caption: "...and the Earth began to heal"

kwh|3.4.11 @ 12:09PM|

Actual context of quote:

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu.....?pid=15445

"Organizations of Government employees have a logical place in Government affairs.

The desire of Government employees for fair and adequate pay, [...] [and other] objectives of a
proper employee relations policy, is basically no different from that of employees in private industry."

Amakudari|3.4.11 @ 2:10PM|

Those two quotes are not really the context but the concern-trolling. "I understand your views, but..." I don't see any uncertainty in FDR's position; he seems firmly against collective bargaining and strikes by public workers:

Organizations of Government employees have a logical place in Government affairs.

The desire of Government employees for fair and adequate pay ... and other objectives ... is basically no different from that of employees in private industry. Organization on their part to present their views on such matters is both natural and logical, but meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the Government.

All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. ...

Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable.
