It's funny, I've never seen them put up Ron Bailey's picture as the icon for his articles. What gives?
I love immigrants. They make me laugh and mexican girls are very capable of being good looking.
It's a common mistake-and it is indeed confusing-but while
"Marketplace" airs on a lot of NPR affiliates, it's not produced or
distributed by NPR; it's instead produced and distributed by
American Public Media, which is essentially owned by Minnesota
Public Radio. Like other APM shows, "Marketplace" was distributed
through Public Radio International, until MPR formed APM for its
productions.
Wikipedia's entries for NPR, APM, MPR, and PRI are very good at
explaining the differences between the groups.
Having lived in South Carolina, I can tell you that Sandlappers are utterly impervious to reason on this issue. (No pun intended.)
Excellent commentary, as always from Ms. Howley. I've nothing
useful to add. Except:
It's funny, I've never seen them put up Ron Bailey's picture as
the icon for his articles.
Good point. Who is the fetching young lady on the "cover?"
Inquiring minds want to know...^_^

Public Radio International? Sponsoring the commentaries
that Americans won't sponsor? Figures.
Of course, Minnesota Public Radio has to pull this program into
American Public Media so its ties to the Mexican
government are hidden.
apparently Ms Howley knows nothing about immigrants. let me set you straight. No they do not pay taxes, since most work them work "under the table". they are not interpreneurs, in fact 93% of them had barely an elementary school education. Honest!, well when you claim to have three children to keep more money and pay less taxes (you take your pick), not to mention that being ILLEGAL is just that ILLEGAL (see dictionary). You sound young, so if you are, I'll say you need to be a little more experience, if you are not. You are just one those ignorant liberals that haven't got a clue. By the way, could you help donate your salary to the hospitals in our border states that have gone bankrupt due to abusive use by illegals?. I doubted!!!
I don't have to listen to know that she's wrong. Those who did
listen - and those who produced the show - should ask themselves
this question and try to answer just as honestly as they can: did
Howley factor all the costs of "their growing immigrant population"
into her analysis?
Since I'm sure she didn't, your answer is clear: she's just a used
car saleswoman with a microphone.
Perhaps "Marketplace" might consider being just the tiniest bit
intellectually honest for a change.
I only listen to Marketplace on Fridays. Nice to hear Kerry on a semirespectable venue. Hopefully she'll parlay this into something where she won't have to hang with frat boyz anymore.
well when you claim to have three children to keep more
money and pay less taxes (you take your pick), not to mention that
being ILLEGAL is just that ILLEGAL
Since anyone, illegal immigrant or not, can "claim to have
three children to keep more money and pay less taxes," maybe this
alleged tendency is in fact a direct result of their being illegal
that would disappear if their immigration were legalized.
Nonetheless, since the income tax brackets of most illegal
immigrants mean that the vast majority of the taxes they pay are
social security and medicare payroll taxes that are not reduced by
such fraudulent deductions, allow me to remain skeptical that this
is a serious problem.

Are you going for the most hilariously misnamed poster ever

Remember, ILLEGAL is not a sick bird
Side note: why do anti-immigration rants seem to require random
CAPITALIZATION and over-punctuation??!?!?!?!?
Warty-

my lord thats funny.
Joe Mills knows nothing about the agricultural markets in South
Carolina. Can we get an 70yr old peach producer to talk to this
guy?

"intrapreneurial"? I mean come on.
as a side note... i need to print a glossy copy of kerry's stock
photo to put in my wallet and use to occasionally lie about "my
girlfriend in canada".
i kid, but i wouldnt be surprised if someone was already doing
that. It *is* such a pain to be quite so,
"Daaaaaammmmmnnnn...."-inducing. We beautiful people suffer more
than you think.

Come on dude. Where's the MexicanGovernment PoliticalPower
Illegalists and shit? You're not funny unless you're keeping your
brands alive. Then you're just a dumb dick.
Perhaps "Marketplace" might consider being just the tiniest

Perhaps "Click" might think about finding something constructive to
do with his time, like getting laid...
Entrepreneurial Illegals. I will give Kerry Howley a perfect example right here in Oxnard, California: An illegal with a social security number (there are a few out there) gets 5 or 6 jobs taking care of old people. She "subcontracts" those jobs to illegals who have no SSN's and collects 30% off the top. She pays taxes and FICA. She drives a 5 series and has not worked an honest day. Oh, by the way, when she is 62, she plans to retire to the Philippines and collect social security.
