Samantha Power Sworn in as US Ambassador to UN

Succeeds Susan Rice

Samantha Power is officially the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Vice President Joe Biden administered the oath of office to the 42-year-old Power on Friday, a day after the Senate overwhelmingly approved the outspoken human rights advocate by a vote of 87-10.

A former foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama, Power succeeds Susan Rice, now the president's national security adviser.
