Christian Pakistani Girl Wrongly Accused of Blasphemy Now in Canada

Family couldn't remain in Pakistan after an imam tried to frame the developmentally disabled girl by planting pages of a burned Quran on her

Rimsha Masih was held in a maximum security prison for several weeks last year after witnesses claimed she had set fire to pages from an Islamic book.

Her age – doctors concluded she was 14, although her supporters said she was 11 – and reports that she suffered learning disabilities brought widespread sympathy and demands that the law be reformed.

The case was eventually dropped when it emerged that she had been framed but her family had to remain in hiding following death threats.

Rimsha and her family fled from Pakistan to Canada recently, according to Peter Bhatti, who runs a Christian organisation in the country.
