SC Sheriff Resigns After Indictment for Kickbacks
An Upstate sheriff who was under scrutiny because of a sex tape was indicted on Tuesday by the State Grand Jury after being accused of taking kickbacks.
The State Grand Jury indicted Abbeville County Sheriff Charles Goodwin on one count of misconduct in office.
The day before the indictment was announced, Goodwin resigned his position. He was just sworn in for a seventh term as sheriff on Jan. 4.
The indictment alleges that Goodwin demanded and received cash kickbacks from county funds paid to a local auto body repair shop from about January 1998 to November 2011.
