Police Chief Wishes Arrest of Homeless Man for Charging Cellphone Was Handled Differently

Sarasota is once again back in the national spotlight for its treatment of the homeless.

The latest drama began Sunday with the arrest of a homeless man for charging his cellphone in a Sarasota park, and ended with city officials shutting off the power, blaming anonymous workers for what the city manager called an “oops,” and then quickly restoring the juice.
