President Obama surveyed the damage Wednesday along the storm-ravaged Jersey shore, joining Garden State Gov. Chris Christie in a seaside showing of bipartisan concern in the devastating wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The GOP governor, a strident supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, greeted the president with a firm handshake on the tarmac at the Atlantic City International Airport. The President, on advice from Mayor Bloomberg, opted to skip the storm-rattled Big Apple on his swing north from Washington.
