Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs defended U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on Wednesday, hours after the State Department admitted there was no anti-American protest before the deadly assault on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya.

“Let me just say this about Susan Rice: Nobody’s been a better public servant in this administration than Susan Rice, and I have no doubt that what Susan Rice said was exactly the intelligence assessment that she was being provided by the intelligence community in order to prepare for those appearances,” Gibbs said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Nobody wants to get to the bottom of this more than the Obama administration and the White House.”
