Iowa Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy, Solicitation For Having Someone Shoot at Him

Was looking for sympathy from his ex-wife, will spend up to 10 years in jail

A Mapleton, Iowa, man charged with twice having someone shoot at him in order to gain sympathy from his ex-wife was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.

Darren Hieber, 32, pleaded guilty to two counts of solicitation and one count of conspiracy in Monona County District Court. He had faced 12 charges in three cases. The remaining charges were dismissed in exchange for his guilty pleas as part of a plea agreement.
