I couldn't agree more. It is an unacceptable infringement on the people's freedom not to have a free market in body parts. I can't tell you what it would mean to me personally, if I didn't have to buy the whole woman. [rimshot]

I remember debating this issue a bit back in high school. The typical argument was that it would be unfair to allow the rich to outbid the poor for needed organs, so therefore everyone should be made to suffer with equally failing organs.

Graphite, the problem is, if I understand the article, that once you given it away, those you give it to are effectively selling the corpse away. As such, the person who died's estate is cut out of the action.

If I'm not allowed to sell off parts of my own body, then it stands to reason that I don't own it. And if I don't own my body, who does?

I know, I'm just saying, I think there is a "social justice" aspect to this that Kerry didn't really touch on. Probably for good reason ... these parts are all being sold on the open market anyway.

Am I correct in thinking that it is illegal to sell your own blood (excepting plasma) as well?
