I'm not used to hearing paeans to privatization on Pacifica's Democracy Now! But that's where the Arab Israeli activist Jafar Farah dropped this comment, while discussing how Arabs in Israel fared during Hezbollah's Katyusha bombardment:
[I]n most of these villages that suffered from rockets, the evacuation of victims [was] done by private companies that [are] acting in most of the Arab villages and cities, emergency medical companies that give emergency services on private basis. And they were giving this, mainly the saving process and medical support for the first hours.
I guess that doesn't qualify as a paean, given that he didn't say anything about whether those companies did a decent job. If nothing else, they seem to have outperformed the government.

Just from observation, I would say it is nearly impossible to *not* outperform the government (any govenment).
Mother Jugs and Speed? That is a blast from the past. What a great piece of 70s pop culture that is. It is almost as good as the other great Rachel Welch movie, The Kansas City Bomber. Mother Juggs and Speed was on my high definition movie chanel the other day. It is really entertaining in its own way. I hadn't seen it in years. Man, Welch had great tits back in the day.
