Nick Gillespie | February 11, 2005
This weekend, I'll be a guest, along with the Cato Institute's David Boaz, on John McLaughlin's interview show One on One (you do the math).
The topic? George W. Bush and libertarians. Or something like that.
In Washington, DC, One on One airs on the NBC affiliate WRC-TV; across the rest of the country, it airs on PBS stations, usually around 7:30AM on Sundays. Consult your local listings.
Bye-Bye.

How does one prepare for that format? - Jason
Being Jesuit-educated helps. McG is a self-defrocked Jebbie, and
that hectoring style passes for the Socratic method at many an S.J.
university. One reason Pat Buchanan has been a mainstay of The
Group over the years is that he attended Georgetown, and was used
to that type of machine-gun questioning.

McG is a self-defrocked Jebbie.. - Me
Of course, that should be McL.
And I forgot to say...
Bye-BYE-EEE!

ISSUE ONE!
McLaughlin is Socrates compared to Hannity or O'Reilly. Or perhaps
he is more John the Baptist, paving the way for those guys.
I think there should be a TV show named 60 Minutes of
Yelling at Nick Gillespie.
Bye-BYE-EEE!
Please talk slowly Nick. I always watch that show at the gym
while I'm on the treadmill and when people talk too fast the
subtitles get messed up.
Fave recent instance of the above - a discussion of the political
power amongst Iraq's shiites of "The Ayatollah Allah Cyst Annie".
PREDICTION! Iraq's first punk band will take that name.

ISSUE TWO!
This show is much better now that Mort and Fred are gone!
BYE-BYEEE
On
a scale of 1 to 14, 1 being lowest degree of unlikelihood, 14 being
absolute metaphysical certitude...
Bye-BYE-EEE!
ISSUE THREE!
"What's with the bald chick? I'm lookin' at the cue ball over there
and I'm thinking, '9-ball, side pocket!'"
i've always thought the mclaughlin group was an excellent model for how drunking arguments about politics should be conducted.
Oh dear. I had never actually seen/read that SNL sketch. I came dangerously close to asphyxiating and/or wetting myself from laughter.
ISSUE FOUR
Please get on that show. Since the fat guy left it sucks.
Bye-BYE-EEE
Is it just me, or does PBS' website blow monkey turds?
It doesn't even include the show in its list of shows. Nothing
turns up for a search of "one on one" either.
I can't even find it on my Tivo. I must be losing my mind.
When is it airing in, say, Los Angeles?
Bye-BYE-EEE!

Swing, baby!
Kevin
I get it, this is a joke, right?
There are NO listings for this show under any permutation of the
words "Mclaughlin, One on one", for any of the three PBS stations
in Los Angeles. As far as they're concerned, it doesn't
exist.
In fact, the show's own website has no schduling info either.
Here endeth the strongly worded post.
Always a breath of fresh air when I see Libertarians on talk shows. Gillespie and Boaz do more than defend freedom, they promote it. Thank you!!!
