It's becoming clear that Lehrer will save himself time and trouble if he limits his questions to: "Are terrorists bad?" and "People tell me something important happened in September of 2001; can you remind me what that might've been?"

Great - Bush just pulled out the ol' "if you criticize what we've done in Iraq you're a lousy leader" line.
Oh - and I don't know if folks had heard about this, but it turns out John Kerry was once in Vietnam.

At least the part of the debate I was referring to it seemed clear that he was responding to Kerry's comments about how Iraq was getting worse and the planning was all wrong; and he was concluding that these comments made Kerry unfit to lead.
