Little Rock Bypass

We knew Bill Clinton was an attention hog, but this, quad bypass on the old ticker?

Al Gore is one unlucky sumbitch, almost as bad as the positively cursed John Kerry.

Ok, this is a little crass, but I can't figure it out. Good or bad for W? Kerry? Both? I guess it probably eats up both of their oxygen.

Has Limbaugh said this is a plot to steal Bush's momentum yet?

Medium-sized negative for Kerry. After all, how are the party faithful supposed to carry on when their patron saint is in peril? Money says Hill slipped him something hoping to sink Kerry's campaign. If Kerry loses, she'll get her shot at the Oval Office in 2008, rather than 2012 or later.

...developing...

Well this gives him a good excuse to not campaign heavily for Kerry. Not that he was going to do that, anyway.

9.3.04 @ 2:56AM

one word: mc-donalds.

Gaius, your half right. Three words: Too much McDonalds.

Does anyone remember how Hilary was ragged on for switching White House chefs, putting Bubba on a low-fat diet? Man, if she hadn't have put her foot down, and Billy Jeff had grazed even more heavily on intern-delivered Domino's, we might have had a Nelson Rockefeller Goodbye in that little closet off the Oval Office.

This isn't good news for Kerry, if it restricts Clinton from doing base-energizing campaigning in the run-up to November. It will allow HRC to rack up sympathy points, and the cynics among us have always assumed that she'd prefer an open Presidential chair in `08.

In the short-term it's bad for Bush, because Bill dominates the news cycle that would otherwise be devoted to his post-convention momentum.

In the long-term, it's bad for Kerry if it means that Clinton can't engage in base-rallying activities. On the other hand, with Bill's energy level and the advances that have been made in cardiology, Bill might be on the campaign trail in a few weeks.

Impossible, you say? My grandfather is a type A living on borrowed time. His doctors and my mother (a very experienced RN) are convinced that he should have died a long time ago from heart disease. Every test says that he's even sicker than Dick Cheney and Bill Clinton put together. But my grandfather enjoys a retirement that's more active than most people's work lives, and the surest way to kill him would be to deny him his routine. Going out and pressing the flesh might be just what Bill needs. Not to mention some campaigning and hand-shaking too ;)

Bill: That would make gaius 1/3 right. :)

McDonalds stock actually went up 26 cents today.

Live like a rock star ...

9.6.04 @ 9:32AM

McDonalds stock up and Clinton having his ticker tinkered with, that's just too ironic and funny, in a sad way.

Very funny, Scat, and I'm a math guy!

Patron Saint? Didn't know there could be a Patron Saint of the Seven Deadly Sins.
But Bill would qualify. /R

This must be the first time major surgery involved a fluffer.

I was in YakDonald's yesterday for a big Yak value meal, but didn't see any "super-size" options. Is this the work of the food police? If so, I'm really pissed off. I wanted a big honk'n box of fries. (BTW - minus the spare tire I'm in okay shape..)

My biggest surprise is that this is a surprise. I would think Clinton would've had the ultra-best medical screening available. What the fuck were his doctors smoking this whole time?

9.7.04 @ 10:29AM

dude, anything that puts Clinton back in the news hurts Bush, by reminding the country has much better the 90s were than the Bush presidency.

matt d, "Medium-sized negative for Kerry. After all, how are the party faithful supposed to carry on when their patron saint is in peril?" Um, isn't that what patron saints are for? To be in peril, so everyone starts paying attention?
