Mohamed ElBaradei, a former senior UN diplomat, was sworn in as vice president, a job he was offered last week.

Egypt's political transition after President Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the military stumbled at the first hurdle, after the choice of the liberal, Nobel peace laureate ElBaradei as interim prime minister was thrown into doubt by Islamist objections.
