Conflict leaks across the border

BEKAA, Lebanon: Syrian jets bombed two locations inside Lebanon Monday, the deputy mayor of the eastern town of Arsal told The Daily Star, in the second aerial attack on Lebanese territory since the uprising against President Bashar Assad.

Ahmad al-Fliti told The Daily Star that the warplanes dropped two bombs on the eastern border areas of Kherbit Youneen and Wadi al-Khayl, at least 5 kilometers into Lebanese territory, leading to material damage.

No casualties were reported.

Although used for agricultural purposes, the two sites have been known to be used as channels for smuggling arms and gunmen across the border.
