Virginia Deputy Charged with Murder, Denied Bond

Accused of shooting man to death in a confrontation

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—An Arlington County sheriff's deputy charged with murder in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man has been denied bond.

44-year-old Craig Patterson appeared before a judge Friday morning.

Police say Julian Dawkins was shot following a confrontation with Patterson on May 22. Dawkins' death was later ruled a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.
