Former New York City Prosecutor Indicted on Pot Charges
Accused of selling marijuana to undercover cop
A former Manhattan prosecutor was indicted Tuesday on a felony charge relating to marijuana distribution after police claimed he sold $200 worth of the controlled substance to an undercover officer in September.
David Leung, 44, was allegedly caught with approximately eight ounces of marijuana in his vehicle after being arrested following the sale. He was released without bail but warned that a grand jury may choose to indict him, which happened Tuesday, according to New York Daily News.
He was allegedly caught after police obtained a phone number for what they said was a delivery service Leung was running. He served as an assistant district attorney from 1993 to 2004, then purportedly opened up a private practice.
