Court: FL Can't Restrict Who International Companies Do Business With

Suck it up, regulators

MIAMI — International transportation contractors that do work in Florida and Cuba or Syria can breathe a little easier. The state will not appeal a federal court decision overturning the state's restrictions on state contractors.

"This means (the Florida Department of Transportation) cannot enforce the law," Dick Kane, FDOT's communications director told Florida Watchdog.

And that's good news for Odebrecht USA, a Brazilian construction firm based in Coral Gables, which challenged the law. If upheld, the law could have cost the international company millions of dollars in lost public contracts.
