Couple Challenges Kentucky Gay Marriage Ban
Were legally married in Canada and want recognition
A Louisville couple married in Ontario in 2004 filed a federal lawsuit Friday challenging the constitutionality of Kentucky laws that don't recognize same-sex marriages from other states.
Gregory Bourke and Michael Deleon filed the suit in federal court against Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, Attorney General Jack Conway and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw. It asks the court to issue a permanent injunction that would require the state to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other locations.
