Adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Meets North Korean Officials

Isao Iijima met with the president of the North Korean parliament


PYONGYANG, North Korea, May 17 (UPI) — Japanese official Isao Iijima, who made a surprise visit to North Korea this week, met with that country's No. 2 leader, the North's official media said.

Iijima, an adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday, met Thursday with Kim Yong Nam, the isolated Communist country's No. 2 leader after Kim Jong Un, the official Korean Central News Agency reported but gave no details.
