My upcoming talk at the University of Florida Nelson Symposium on "Kelo's First Decade"

|The Volokh Conspiracy |

This Friday, February 6, I will be doing a talk at the University of Florida Richard E. Nelson Symposium on "Kelo's First Decade: The Eminent Domain (R)evolution." My talk will be based on my forthcoming book, "The Grasping Hand: Kelo v. City of New London and the Limits of Eminent Domain," which will be the first book by a legal scholar about the Kelo case and the massive political reaction it generated.

I am honored to be on the same panel with Scott Bullock of the Institute for Justice, who was one of two lawyers representing the property owners in Kelo throughout the case, and argued it before the Supreme Court. Our panel will run from 9:15 to 10:30 AM. Other participants in the symposium include leading eminent domain scholars, such as Robert Hockett (Cornell), Alexandra Klass (University of Minnesota), and conference organizer Richard Allen Wolf (Florida), among others.

A complete schedule of the symposium, which I believe is open to the public as well as University of Florida faculty and students, is available here.
