His new book, "Samuel Smedley, Connecticut Privateer," delves into this true-life tale of revolution, shipwrecks, treasure and cannon fire.

Reason.tv's Nick Gillespie sat down with the author to talk about Smedley, America's fascination with Revolutionary War biographies and Kuhl's desire for a film franchise.
