Uber to Deliver Christmas Trees Thursday

Call up and they'll drop one off, for a fee

|

You might call them marketing stunts, but I call it awesome. And Thursday December 5, as people are gearing up this holiday season, decorating, gift shopping and having their merry fix of eggnog, Uber is offering to take the burden of Christmas tree shopping off your back.

From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, the Uber app will have an option for you to request an UberTREE. Within minutes, you can have a 7 to 8 foot netted tree with a stand and an "Uber Gift" (which will likely be a coupon of sorts) delivered to your home for a flat $135 price, no extra fees. That's a pretty solid price for a good sized tree and everything you need – minus the tinsel, lights and star – without having to leave the warmth of your couch. In Washington, D.C., Uber will deliver Fraser firs from Home Depot.

And with the offer, Uber's convenient ordering policy stands as it always is. There's no need to deposit cash; just link your credit card and pay right there in the app. Live in an apartment with several people and want to spread the cost amongst roommates? Uber's fare splitting feature applies to tree deliveries as well. And lastly, new users will get their first Uber ride $20 off by using the promo code UberTREE.
