Traffic Law Reform Means Spaniards Can Be Arrested for Drunk Walking
Legislation also includes rule requiring cyclists under 18 to wear helmets
MADRID, July 29 (UPI) — Pedestrians in Spain will be subject to alcohol and drug tests if they disregard road rules, ThinkSpain reported.
The new rule is part of road traffic law reform.
Even if they haven't caused an accident, pedestrians walking down the middle of a street or stepping in front of a moving vehicle will be subject to a breathalyzer test to determine if they are under the influence, the newspaper reported Sunday.
As part of the law, bicyclists less than 18 years of age must wear a helmet at all times.
