Remembrance Held for Six-Month Anniversary of Newtown Shooting
Moment of silence, then more calls for gun control
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The victims of the Newtown elementary school were remembered Friday with 26 seconds of silence — one for each slain student and teacher.
The hush that descended across the suburban town came six months after a lone gunman launched a lethal assault on the Sandy Hook Elementary School on a quiet December morning.
Carlee Soto, whose heroic sister Victoria died protecting her students, called for the moments of silence as about 200 people gathered outside the Edmond Town Hall.
