Charter School Expansion Again Heard by Texas Lawmakers

It would slowly raise the cap on the number of schools in the state

A Texas House education panel plans to take up — and could approve — a key proposal to expand the number of charter schools allowed to operate in Texas.

Senate Bill 2 has already passed the state Senate. It would gradually raise the cap on the number of public charter school licenses the state issues from 215 to 305 over the next six years.
